To understand that Christians believe God gave humans a responsibility to care for the world and all living creatures.

To know Christian stories and hymns that help us think about the beauty of the natural world.

Discuss what Christians believe God meant when he said “Human beings will live all over the earth and bring it under their control. I am putting human beings in charge of the fish, the birds and all of the wild animals.” (Genesis 1:28). This is generally understood to mean that human beings have a responsibility to care for the world and all living creatures.

Watch the videos below or read some stories of Jesus that evoke a sense of awe and wonder in response to the beauty of the natural world such as the parable of the sower, the parable of the mustard seed and the lilies of the field. Can you act out the stories? Can you retell the story of the parable of the sower?

Listen to or sing some Christian hymns celebrating the beauty of the natural world and thanking God for his creation. You will need to listen very carefully to the lyrics to understand what Christians might be thankful for.

Finally, complete this story board to explain what happened to the seed in the parable. You may like to use this word mat to help you.
