Mrs Daines has issued a challenge to decide the winner of Winston the Reading Worm. The class who completes and sends in to their teacher the most book reviews over the Easter holiday will get to keep him in their classroom. Come on Year One gang, we can do this! Read your school reading book, your favourite book, a new book, a tricky book that you've never read before or an online book - and PLEASE send us your book reviews!

We look forward to seeing them, get reading gang!

Ideas to keep you busy...

Here are just a few things that we have found, there's plenty out there to do. Have fun and keep safe at home.

  • Classroom Secrets Easter Home Learning Timetable Classroom Secrets have been working really hard on an Easter Timetable to keep you supplied with fun activities. If you're looking for ways to keep the children entertained throughout this time, then they have tons of ideas. They wanted to make sure you still have something over Easter but more fun and not so intense... so it includes baking, eggs hunts, crafts, exercise and lots more! You can toggle between age groups and choose activities that suit your little ones.
  • How to make fat cakes for birds A nice recipe to whip up for our feathered friends. I'm sure it will work just as well without the peanuts if you have an allergy in the house.
  • Good Housekeeping A brilliant resource with 50 fun activities for children to do at home - check out the DIY Flight School!
  • School Science Bug Hunt A competition to keep small people occupied for a little while over the Easter holiday. 🕷🐝🐞🦋 Schools Science have opened up The Great Bug Hunt 2020 to primary school aged children and their parents!
  • Magic Tricks Five fun magic tricks for little children to explore and perfect while you are at home.
  • BBC Own it BBC Own It app aims to supports children during the Covid 19 restrictions. Cyber safety and digital wellbeing is more important now than ever as restrictions mean children spend more time online. The BBC Own It app has a special keyboard that gives children support and advice as they type. The keyboard can now recognise Covid 19 related chat, triggering a supportive response that can help with fears and emotions. Full of fun quizzes, videos and exclusive content for primary aged children - please feel free to share to parents, teachers and homeschoolers.

Animal Webcams
  • Essex Wildlife Trust Webcams See if you can spot badgers, barn owls, bats and swallows! The best time to view the badgers is a few hours before dusk. I spotted a fox also having dinner with the badgers on Thursday 2nd April at around 7pm! On the Barn Own Webcam they are currently awaiting the arrival of this year's brood!
