To begin with today watch this handy video which explains how to write fractions then open the PowerPoint below for a lesson on how to find a fraction of an amount. For example, you may be asked to find half (½) of 18 or a quarter (¼)  of 24 and this slideshow will guide you step-by-step (please play in presentation/slideshow mode).  

 

Next, open the document titled ‘Finding fractions of an amount’ and depending on how confident you feel, choose either the Red, Yellow or Green challenge. If you are feeling really secure in your understanding, then why not try the extension challenge… Good luck!
