Year 2

Thank you for visiting our Year 2 page. We will be sharing some of the activities, visits and events that we have been doing on these pages. We hope you enjoy sharing our learning with us.

Miss Bradbrook and Miss Wells

PE Days

Our Outdoor PE session is on a Monday. Please ensure that your child comes into school in their outdoor PE kit, including a blue or black tracksuit if cold. Your child can also bring gloves and a hat if the weather is cold.

Our Swimming Lessons are on a Wednesday (2W) and a Thursday (2B). As lessons in the outdoor pool can sometimes leave children feeling a little chilly, please make sure that your child brings a jumper to school on the day that they have swimming. Swimming kit should include a hat (marked clearly with their name on the outside), a swimsuit (one piece) or swimming trunks (not long shorts), a towel and flip flops or other plastic shoes used for walking backwards and forwards to the pool when feet are wet. Children may also like to bring goggles if they are used to using them for swimming.

Homework and Spellings

Spelling tests will be carried out in school on a Tuesday morning. New spellings will be sent home on a Wednesday.

The CGP homework books will also be sent home on a Wednesday. The books will alternate each week between Maths and English. A sheet will be sent home each week with details about which pages to complete.

Login details for Numbots and Times Table Rockstars (TTRS) are stuck in the children's reading records. Children are now asked to spend 15 minutes a week on the 'Garage' section of TTRS.

2W Forest School

2W have had so much fun in their Forest School sessions with Mr Fenn. From building, catching bugs, and using a drill, they thoroughly enjoyed it. They even made conker necklaces!

Science in 2B

In Science we have been looking at materials - and the children started the unit by making Material Monsters!

They were given a huge table full of mixed objects and materials and then had to select items that were made from the material that their monster was to be made from. They then had to work as a group to make the objects that they had found into a monster!

The children were very proud of their monsters! Can you tell what each one was made from?

Science in 2W

In Science we have been learning about materials and the children started the unit by making Material Monsters!

Each group were given a range of objects made from a different material and then had make their monster using their material. The children worked hard in their groups and the monsters looked great!
