Year 5 Children's Report Comments

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please help your child to complete the Pupil Report Comments template below. They can chose to either type or hand write their reflections on the year. If they chose to hand write their ideas, please either scan the finished document or take a photograph. Completed templates should be sent by email to your child's teacher by Monday 20th July. This copy will be added to the teacher written report and kept for our own records. You are invited to keep your original copy as a record of your child's view of their school year and can add this to their teacher report, once received. We look forward to receiving their thoughts as they look back on 2019/2020.

The Year 5 Team

Activity clubs.

For those of you who are missing their clubs and activities, check out Oak National Academy clubs. There are new activities every week or you can browse previous club activities. There are cook-alongs, art club, debating club and activities from The Scout Association.

Some activities are designed for certain year groups and some are for all. To access the activities you can either browse all clubs below, or see 'what's on this week.'

Seesaw

Well done to everyone who has logged on to Seesaw and uploaded some of their pieces of work. It has been great to see so many of your home learning tasks. Remember, any form of learning that you have been doing can be shared, it does not just have to be the tasks set on the class page.

If you haven't managed to log on yet, please do so.

We MUST see a minimum of two posts each week, please.

If you are having trouble logging in or have lost your log in details (sent via email to parents) please let your class teacher know so we can contact the office and have these resent.

Silver Week - Try Something New

Did you complete your Purple Week badge last week?

This week is Silver Week and your chance to try something new.

To earn your Silver Badge you need to have already earned your Blue Badge first. Then try something new such as a midnight feast, learn a new language or try some kitchen science. Check out the wall chart and Blue Peter website for some more ideas.

Follow the link to have a look on the website for tips on how you can take part.

If you haven't already, you can download a wall chart  to keep track of your Six Badges of Summer progress.  Let us know what you're doing by uploading your pictures and videos of your creations via Seesaw.

Remember to ask an adult at home to help you apply for your badge once you have met the Silver Week Challenge.

Cooking!

We have had some requests for another cooking challenge. Rather than assign a cooking challenge to a particular day, we thought we would put it here so it covers the whole week - as you might need to gather some additional ingredients.

There are two activities below which are favourites of my Scouts and don't require the use of an oven.  However, feel free to create something sweet or savory using a recipe from home. Perhaps you have a secret family recipe for a favourite dish.

Activity 1) Armpit fudge!! This uses your body warmth to melt the ingredients to create fudge! There are two different recipes to choose from.

Activity 2) Ice cream in a bag - this uses ice and salt to transfer the cold from the ice into the ice cream mixture. Although the recipe says rock salt, regular table salt works just as well. Make sure your smaller bag is closed securely - otherwise the salt water will creep in and spoil your ice cream!

Remember to send pictures of your cooking on seesaw!    Enjoy!!!!

Before you start any cooking or making in the kitchen - please ensure you have permission from your grown up at home!
