English
Our English work today continues from yesterday - make sure you have watched the video clip. Firstly, on thee sheet called 'First Flight' can you add speech to the speech bubbles for the frogs and some setting description - think carefully about your choice of adjectives.
Using the 'Harltown Report' highlight the speech marks, capital letters, punctuation inside speech marks, commas and synonyms for said. Can you explain why each of these are used?
Refer back to your frog speech bubbles written on the 'First Flight' sheet. Using this sheet as your plan, can you write the speech as full sentences within a narrative? Remember to use the setting description in your piece.
Once you are finished, re-read your work to check your speech punctuation. Edit anything which is missing in blue pen.
Optional extra:
Continue the story in your own way, either as a narrative, a plan or a comic strip.
Maths
Please see your MyMaths account for today's maths task. Complete the lesson before attempting the homework. Remember you can use your book for workings. We will monitor results online.
You must remember to log out of your portal and then log out of MyMaths - otherwise your results might not be sent to us.
Today you will be finding fractions of amounts. You should now be able to recognise a few percentages automatically from looking at their fraction equivalent. What is 50% as a fraction? What is 25% as a fraction? What if you wanted to find 50% of 20? What would you need to think about?
Some questions might ask you to find a less well known percentage of an amount such as 20%. Use yesterday's skills to turn the percentage into a fraction. Then think back to our work on finding a fraction of the amount. Divide the whole number by the denominator and then multiply this by the numerator.
