Maths - Times Table Rock Star Battle!

Today you have been challenged to a Times Table Rock Star Battle between each of the classes in Year 5 and Year 4.  Can your class apply their times table knowledge to be the ultimate times tables stars?

Your battle is only active today. It commences at 08:30 and concludes at 16:30.

Good luck!!

English

Today we are continuing with the TS Eliott poem 'Skimbleshanks'.

Before you begin your lesson, there is a short video to watch about Caledonian sleeper trains.

Read the second part of the poem and listen to the audio clips to assist you with the pronunciation and rhythm.  Identify any unknown words and find out the meaning using a dictionary.

Using the revision cards, and building upon your work from yesterday, complete the Skimbleshanks vocabulary task.  You need to rewrite the sentences adding punctuation to make the meaning clearer. Decide whether to use commas, brackets or dashes.
Think about end of sentence punctuation too!

There are suggested answers within the pack for you to self assess and mark your answers.

Optional extras -

Use the 'railway Times' template to write a newspaper based upon Skimbleshanks.

Research TS Eliot's cat poems - can you draw and label the appearance and character traits from the detail in the poems?

Write a short poem based upon a pet or animal you know.

Remember, you can email these over to us to share your learning.

Reading for pleasure

Usually on Friday, we spend some time reading for pleasure.  Today, either spend some time reading something which you enjoy - this could be (but not limited to)  a book, magazine, newspaper, recipe or non-fiction text online.

Alternatively, tune into David Walliams on the web link below. He is releasing a free audio book each day at 11am. Download it and listen to it wherever you feel comfortable and relaxed.

Enjoy!!
